The Final Moments Just finished packing and will be departing at 3:30 a.m. Arriving back at LAX at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Just savage. Can’t wait. Can’t believe that I’m leaving. Mixed feelings. More later.

So, Tomorrow is Free And that means a lovely trip to the land of San Marino. That’s right. San Marino. Again. There’s not much there to see, but it’s a lovely place nonetheless and the view should be much better this time. We might even get to see some Teuton warriors and ride the Funivia. Which, as we all know, is just endless joy. I’m realizing now that there are a few...

Final Exam Tomorrow The history of Africa is long and complicated and sitting on my desk unread. Let’s pray for tomorrow.

“After backing his former rival for the Democratic nomination, by week’s end...”
–  PEJ. This is just appalling. Do your job, news media. I know this is a little random, but I think that it warrants a posting. It’s just got me reeling. Impossible. Just impossible.

Jeff Arrives Safely Though he had barely enough change to pay for the taxi ride from the airport, everything went okay. Air India even served fish. And it didn’t make him vomit. Meno male. Great great great.

That’s Right Apparently, the polar bear has been designated as an endangered species. Go Bowdoin (I realize that these things are only related in a most superficial way). Details: “America’s interior secretary designated the polar bear a threatened species because of the reduction in Arctic sea ice, its primary habitat. The decision might also hamper oil drilling in the...

CareerBuilder Monk-e-Mail. →
This is what the internet is all about. I just received a lovely Monk-e-mail message from Uncle Bill and Aunt Risa and thought I would share. Send one to your friends! A monkey reading your message is always better than just plain text. Any day.

Feeling Slightly Better After coalescing digestive powers, I have made it through the toughest of the pea process, I think. Now, it’s on to studying poetry in Italian and looking at the dictionary every five seconds. What a treat! I am discovering what a tremendous task this will be. And so, I will conclude by adding in a countdown to my next exam. Next Exam: 31 hours.

Way Nerdy It appears that public links to my Facebook albums (on the right there) change every once in awhile. I don’t know how often or why, but they were no longer functioning about 10 minutes ago. So, I fixed them now, but have no idea if or when they will change again. God forbid the horrible circumstance in which my photos may not be available for public viewing. Oh, useless I am.

If You Can’t Stand the Heat Don’t cook with peperoncino. Because when you forget to wash your hands afterwards, you will eventually touch your eyes… eventually. And then you will die. Pain, go away.

And One More Thing I forgot to follow up on the last post and include the results from the Bowdoin College Democrats Presidential Election: (drum roll, please) I lost! It was a tough race, lots on the line, and was well fought. Not really surprised and it’s certainly for the best. Next year is going to be much thinner on the Bowdoin bureaucracy. Thin, thin.

While the Primary Contests Rage On …I am currently embroiled in a contest for co-president of the Bowdoin College Democrats next year. It’s going to be a tight race between me and two other candidates—one goes home with zero. Nervousness and possible chagrin abound. And then there’s reading books about fascism. Always a great alternative. Jeff arrives on the 17th, which...

Studying is Great So today was a day—for the first time in a while, mind you—of productivity. Laundry, shopping, and studying was done. Caffeine-enhanced studying at that. Let it just be said that caffeine helps to a point. When two cups of coffee are coupled with a Snickers bar, it can get to be too much and you can begin to feel like you’re sweating uncontrollably while sitting...

Giardini Margherita is a Wonderful Place Today is the day of the Worker here in Italy, so we gave brief celebration by going to the Giardini Margherita, partaking of sandwiches, and doing zero work. Currently making pasta with tomato sauce (creative, I know) and then will do something to hold me off until I have to begin (really) the next book or until the Modena City Ramblers concert begins...

So, Final Class, Kind of Just had my final lecture in History of Africa and it was lovely. The past two days we were given the rare treat of having a lecturer in English—from Switzerland. His accent was delightful, however; rather than incomprehensible or too funny to pay attention to. And it just so happens that the lecture was on South Africa. So, I figure that I probably know about as...

Blogging is the New D&D After realizing that—no matter how nerdy this is—I have a widget on my desktop that sends text to my blog, I have decided that I will do so more often; kind of change the format up a little bit, you know. Make it a little less formal, a little more conversational. A little more Textual, you know. And I’ll say you know a lot more, just to make it sound...

Bee Vs. Scorpion After uncertainty about posting the video here, I came to realize that it should just go up. Well, I’ll include it in a link rather than in the page, for respect to the faint of heart. We found a scorpion or two in the house in Umbria (they were quite small and quite stupid) and decided, in a very pre-adolescent bug/fireworks type wonderment, to pit the first scorpion in a...
